Chilly weather didn’t deter lacrosse players of the past, present and future from taking to the field Jan. 7 at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas.
A morning beginners lacrosse clinic drew players in grades 1-8, and TMI alumni and current players faced off in a light-hearted scrimmage organized by TMI Head Lacrosse Coach Blake Skinner.
Among those playing for the alumni were several current or recent college lacrosse players, including: Dillon Basse ’16 (Dallas Baptist University), GW Bodden ’16 (Texas A&M), Cam Campbell ’14 (TCU), Ben Morrill ’06 (Texas Tech), EJ Neese ’10 (Texas Tech), Sean Smith ’11 (UTSA), Chuy Suday ’14 (Texas State), Jake Watts ’11 (University of Texas) and Shane Winter ’12 (University of Notre Dame de Namur).
After the scrimmage, the Alumni Relations Office hosted a gathering for lacrosse players and their families at Aldaco’s at Dominion Ridge.
Also participating in the alumni lacrosse event were Nelson Black, ’15, Justin Bruni ’10, Weston Cleveland ’15, Aaron Cornelius ’15, Alex Graham ’15, Michael Jourdan ’04, Nick Jourdan ’06, Connor McMillian ’15, Emilio Martinez ’16, Kyle Matheu ’06, David Maynor ’09, Josh Pett ’12, Zach Trevino ’16 and Deandre Wilson ’15.
Past and current coaches in attendance at the alumni game were Blake Skinner, John Beck, Pat Cleveland, Jay McCracken and Matt Pompa.
Ryan Kohnen ’98, who became TMI’s chief advancement officer in July 2017, gave a talk on servant leadership to the student body Sept. 11 during daily chapel.
Alumnus Rudyard Hilliard, M.D., shared his “Five Lessons of Success” with the student body of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas in a special talk Jan. 23 during daily chapel services in the school’s All Saints Chapel.
Alumni from the classes of 1956, '57 and '58 gathered Dec. 9-10 for their annual reunion, starting with a meet-and-greet in the Omni Hotel and concluding with a luncheon at the Texas Land and Cattle Co. restaurant, both in the Memorial City mall, Houston.
