How to: Structure a bargain sale

How to structure a bargain sale

  1. Identify the property you would like to use.  It could be real estate, stock or another verifiably valuable asset.

  2. Contact TMI to tell them of your intent and lay out the terms you would like to apply to the agreement.  These terms should include:

    • The current value of the asset.
    • The amount you would like to receive in cash.
    • Whether you would consider receiving the cash payment over time instead of in a lump sum.
    • Whether there are any outstanding loans against the property.

  3. TMI will need to vet the property and agree to the terms, including possible liquidation plans if TMI cannot use the property directly for its educational mission.

  4. Once you and TMI agree to terms, consult an attorney to draw up legal documents.
