Area students headed to world robotics competition

A robotics team from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas qualified to attend the FIRST LEGO (FLL) League World Championship, to be held April 27-30 in St. Louis.
The Pink Panther Middle School team earned eligibility to participate in the international competition by earning a Champions Award, second place out of 88 teams at the FIRST Tech Challenge South Super Regionals, held March 9-11 in San Antonio’s Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, after winning first place in regional competition.

Three of the team members, all seventh graders, attended Boerne-area elementary schools. They are: Annie Mosis, who attended Curington Elementary School; Bella Grossman, who attended Cibolo Creek Elementary; and Chloe Harthan, who attended Fair Oaks Elementary. Other team members include Priscilla Lobo, Mikae Mumme and Newton Tran.

The Panthers will be among 108 teams from around the world, including only eight from the United States, to advance to this year’s world competition. There were 29,000 teams participating in FLL this year, with more than 233,000 team members.
