TMI students win Scholastic Writing Awards

Delaney Martin, a junior at TMI Episcopal, and seniors Colby Guillory and August Schmidt all won Silver Keys in the Scholastic Writing Awards, Southwest Region-at-Large.
Martin’s award was in the personal essay/memoir category for “Unexpected Life,” and Guillory and Schmidt won for their short stories, “Family History” and “Sin,” respectively.

Silver Key awards recognize stand-out works submitted to local programs that demonstrate exceptional ability.

Each year, the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers partners with more than 100 visual-arts and literary-arts organizations across the country to bring the Scholastic Awards to local communities. Teens in grades seven through 12 (ages 13 and up) apply in 29 categories of art and writing. In 2018, students submitted nearly 350,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards.
