Congratulations to the 15 TMI students who competed in the local Spanish contest, ¡Colores, Voces y Poesía!, sponsored by the local chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, held at the Young Women's Leadership Academy.
Of the participants, nine students brought home awards. Oro (Gold): Freshman Sebastián Martínez Sotomayor in native-speaker level IV,V,VI for presentation impromtu speaking (Los refugiados) and sophomore Hasan Ehsan in non-native speaker level III poetry recitation (Arbolé arbolé por Federico García Lorca). Plata (Silver): Freshman Nicholas Van Steenberg in outside experience level III poetry recitation (En paz por Amado Nervo). Bronce (Bronze): Freshman Alessandro Moya in hand-drawn art - high school level (Creando vínculos entre el aula y la carrera/Criando vínculos entre a aula e a carreira), freshman Tamyka Mena in outside experience poetry level II poetry recitation (Gracias a la vida por Violeta Parra), sophomore Santiago Martínez in outside experience interpersonal speaking - level III (tema desconocido), sophomore Eddie García in outside experience interpersonal speaking - level III (tema desconocido), freshman Eric Barocas in non-native interpersonal speaking - level II (Comprando una casa), and freshman Danny Hakim in non-native interpersonal speaking - level II (Comprando una casa).
