Cameron Crenwelge, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, signed Nov. 9 to ride for the No. 1-ranked equestrian team at Texas A&M University next year.
Crenwelge won the World Championship in Novice Youth Showmanship and was Reserve World Champion in Trail Breeders Championship Futurity (BCF) at the 2015 National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) World Championship in Tulsa, Okla. She also was ranked No. 1 in Level 2 Horsemanship last year.
The A&M equestrian team was ranked No. 1 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) poll. Crenwelge – who also received offers to ride for Baylor University (ranked No. 3) and the University of Georgia (No. 5) and chose A&M for its top ranking and because her father Dale Crenwelge is an A&M alumnus of the class of 1981 and also earned his MBA there in 1994.
The A&M women’s equestrian team has a history of national success, winning championship titles in 2002 and 2012. A&M riders finished second overall in four of the last six seasons, the western team has won six NCEA titles and the hunter seat squad has finished second for the past three years.
