TMI teachers renew vows in chapel

Kate and Rick Faulk, both teachers at TMI Episcopal, renewed their marriage vows Feb. 14 in the school’s All Saints Chapel.
Officiated by the Rev. Nate Bostian, TMI Head Chaplain, the ceremony was the focal point of a combined Ash Wednesday/Valentine’s Day service.

The educators – she teaches science, he teaches math and both are also dorm parents in TMI’s Residential Life program – were called up during Bostian’s sermon that connected the “deeper love” between married people with the Lenten themes of sacrifice, forgiveness and a “forever love.” TMI organist Joseph DeLoach surprised students and faculty by playing a wedding march as the Faulks walked up the aisle. Led by Bostian, they repeated their vows, and the priest “reaffirm(ed) that they are husband and wife…Those whom God has joined together, let no one put asunder.”

When the chaplain asked the couple, who were married Dec. 20, 1986, if they’d like to be part of his plans to link Lent with Valentine’s Day, “We were thrilled to be given the opportunity,” said Mrs. Faulk. “Thirty-one years and four children later, it was a very special moment to relive our promises to each other and to God.”
