At TMI, strategic planning helps us clarify our shared aspirations and thoughtfully prepare for the future of our school. Our strategic plan outlines the priorities that will guide our work over the next five years as we continue to provide exceptional educational opportunities for our students.
Grounded in more than 130 years of history and tradition, this plan builds on the strengths of our community while positioning TMI to grow, innovate, and serve future generations of learners.

Why Strategic Planning Matters
Strategic planning is an important process that independent schools like ours undertake every few years to ensure we remain responsive to the needs of our students and community. During the 2024–2025 school year, TMI launched a comprehensive strategic planning process in partnership with Mission & Data, a consulting firm that specializes in strategic planning for schools and mission-driven organizations.
Throughout this process, parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and members of the Board of Trustees contributed their insights and perspectives. Through research, surveys, and conversations, we worked together to better understand our community today and develop a clear roadmap for the future.
The result is a strategic plan that reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the TMI experience while preparing our students for a rapidly evolving world.

Our strategic framework is rooted in what we often call our school’s “secret recipe”, our proven process that guides how we grow and serve our students. We begin by cherishing the people, traditions, and resources that make our community strong. We then know our students by continually seeking to understand their needs and the world they are preparing to enter. Finally, we challenge ourselves to pursue excellence by aligning with best practices, exploring new opportunities, and implementing innovative programs that strengthen the educational experience we provide.
