TMI freshman Jackson Basil of Boerne participated in the Hill Country A&M Club’s Aggie Muster, held April 21 at the Burdick Community Center in Boerne.
Basil, a member of the TMI Corps of Cadets, joined A&M alumni Dale Felps, Gary Henley, Stephen Henley and Charles Wetherbee to perform the traditional rifle volley at the ceremony, based on the concept of a “roll call” of all alumni.
At TMI, Basil has been named Cadet of the Month and was a member of the rifle team that participated in last fall’s Texas state JROTC competition. He has been a member of a cadet CyberPatriot cyber defense team, earned honors in Junior Classical League competitions and is a member of the Freshman Scholastic Society for ninth graders who have earned averages of 90 or higher. He hopes to attend A&M as a member of the class of 2025.
Since 1922, A&M alumni have gathered on April 21, San Jacinto Day, to celebrate Texas independence and share their memories and camaraderie as former students. The annual tradition of "Muster" was born as a day of events shared by all alumni and is celebrated at more than 300 locations worldwide.
