TMI boys win first at state swim meet

The TMI Episcopal boys varsity swim team won first place out of 19 schools competing at the TAPPS Division II Championships, held Feb. 8 in Mansfield.
In individual and relay-team events, the Panthers posted a total of 161 points; Houston Second Baptist School took second with 114.
Robby Devlin captured first in the 50-yard freestyle and second in the 100 freestyle. Victor Alejos claimed first in the 200 individual medley.

The TMI foursome of Alejos, Thomas Anderson, Devlin and Nicolas Ituarte won first place in the 200 medley relay; and Alejos, Anderson, Devlin and Santiago Martinez took first in the 400 free relay.

The TMI girls varsity swimmers took sixth place; Jessica Cox finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Alejos, Anderson, Cox, Devlin, Ituarte and Martinez all were named to the All State honor team.

The TMI boys previously won first place in the TAPPS Central Regional Championships, held Jan. 24 in the North East Independent School District’s Josh Davis Aquatic Center.
