Students in TMI's chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) collected gently used winter coats from the school community to donate to Hill Country Family Services, a Boerne-based aid agency that provides food and clothing assistance to needy families.
The chapter also raised money to purchase 300 new books that were donated to Will Rogers Elementary School in the San Antonio Independent School District. The books were given to students to keep during a Feb. 9 Literacy Night, an annual event at which Rogers faculty and staff share literacy strategies with families.
NHS requires its members to demonstrate involvement in service, along with scholarship, leadership and character. TMI also has community-service requirements for all students.
