The varsity cheer squad from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas brought home some top awards from the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state cheerleading competition, held Dec. 8-9 in the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington.
The TMI cheerleaders won second place among 15 teams in their division. The Panther squad was the only team from San Antonio to place in the top four. Three members earned individual All-State titles: Junior Caroline Peterson was named to the first team All-State, junior Joan Lewis made the second team and freshman Isabela Ruiz earned honorable mention.
“The TMI varsity cheer squad has been working very hard since August to perfect their competition routine,” head coach Amanda Quiroga said. “With weekly practices, they worked together to accomplish their goal of coming in Top Five in the state of Texas this year. They surpassed their goal and won second place. As their coach, I and the entire TMI community are very proud of these young ladies.”
The mission of TMI is to provide an excellent educational community, with values based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, challenging motivated students to develop their full potential in service and leadership.
