Young Pegasus poetry competition
Students through age 18 are eligible to enter the annual Young Pegasus poetry competition, sponsored by the San Antonio Public Library. The deadline is Dec. 15. Young writers may enter up to 25 original poems; winning poems will be published in the Young Pegasus Anthology. Colonial Dames essay contest
Students in grades 10-12 may enter an essay contest sponsored by the National Society of Colonial Dames in conjunction with the Washington Workshops Foundation, a nonprofit educational program in American government for high-school students. Deadline is Dec. 1. Winners receive full tuition for a week of citizenship education, June 17-23, 2017, in Washington D.C., including sightseeing, meals and university campus housing.
