Summer Adventure

GUATEMALA 2018: Give the Gift of Summer Adventure!

This holiday season, give your child the gift of servant leadership! Sign up now for our exciting Summer 2018 "Servant-Leader Adventure." The UPPER SCHOOL will be going to GUATEMALA where we will will be working with community schools and service organizations, experiencing Anglican worship in a new cultural context, and enjoying the country's natural and cultural beauty on hikes and excursions (June 11-17, $1350 + Airfare). For Upper School (rising 9th-recent graduates), give your $500 first payment to Fr. Nate (n.bostian@tmi-sa.org) or Mrs. Carter (t.carter@tmi-sa.org) ASAP: First deposited, first served!   • LED BY WONDERVOYAGE MISSIONS

    TMI Servant Leader Adventures are done through Wondervoyage Missions (wondervoyage.com), a worldwide service learning and pilgrimage organization that is time-tested and trusted. Fr. Nate has worked with them for over 16 years at Churches and Schools. All payments and paperwork will be given to TMI. Sign up materials can be found at the link above.
  • INFORMATION FOR U.S. GUATEMALA TRIP

    The UPPER SCHOOL trip is for students who have graduated 8th grade up to graduating seniors. It will by June 11-17. It will earn 15-20 community service hours. The cost is $1350 for food, lodging, and activities. Group airfare cost will be additional.
  • PAYMENTS AND SIGN UP

    Payments to be made to TMI. Application and payments are to be given to Fr. Nate (n.bostian@tmi-sa.org) or Mrs. Carter (t.carter@tmi-sa.org).
    • A.S.A.P. - $500 first payment due to reserve spot - First come, first served, and space is limited
    • By Friday Feb 16 - $850 payment* and application will be due.
    • *If necessary, we can split this payment up, as needed by the family.
    • Cost for airfare and travel insurance will be announced as soon as possible.
    • Please DO NOT arrange independent transport, so that we can keep all trip members together.
  • PASSPORT/VISA/TRAVEL WARNINGS

    You must have a valid US Passport with at least one page available for entry stamp. No Visa is required for US citizens. There are currently no travel warnings, and we will be staying in known areas, and working with organizations with a known track record for safety with mission trip groups.

    This information applies to US Citizens ONLY. If you or your child is not a US citizen, please consult with your government as soon as possible about requirements to travel.
  • VACCINATIONS

    No vaccinations are required beyond routine vaccinations. The CDC suggests that travelers be up to date, and recommends to "most travelers" that you get vaccinated for Hepatitis A and Typhoid. As in most Central American Countries and the Southern United States, there is a low chance of getting Zika or other mosquito-based tropical diseases.

Students will learn how the Roman invaders interacted with native Britons in Imperial Roman Britain, come to understand what King George VI meant when he declared that ‘The history of York is the history of England’ and become acquainted with Edinburgh’s history via a visit to Edinburgh Castle.

Learning Objectives:
After touring the largest collection of ancient Roman monuments in Spain, students will gain an understanding of the importance of the Roman Empire in Spanish history. Students will learn how the unique culture of Andalusia was formed through the blending of Iberian, Roman and Moorish tradition. Students will have an introduction, through art, to the Spanish Royal Families and the role of the current Royal Family in Spanish society.
