    (Summer reading: Students must read and be ready to discuss all summer reading material when school starts.)
    TMI has arranged with both MBS Direct and Barnes & Noble to have the books stocked and available for purchase. The MBS Direct online store will go live on July 5; books available from Barnes & Noble are highlighted in yellow on the book lists.

    If you choose, you may purchase any of the books from a different source as long as both the ISBN and edition match what is listed.

    Both the English Department and the Upper School History Department have assigned summer reading for students. Please see the links below for guidance from the English Department on summer reading and the link below regarding Upper School History summer reading and the accompanying assignment that must be turned in prior to the start of the school year.

  • School Supply Lists (Click for details)

    School Supply Lists for Middle School and Upper School students are provided to the students during the first week of school by their teachers. However, some basic supplies may be purchased ahead of time. 

    Middle School
    • Notebooks – Your child is required to keep a notebook for every subject. This can be organized as a binder with a section for each subject or as separate notebooks. Each teacher will specify preference.
    • Basic supplies for a Middle School student include: black ink pens, pencils, erasers, ruler, math tools, highlighters, colored pens and pencils, scotch tape, glue stick, graph paper/notebook, lined paper/notebook, blank paper, plastic sleeves or paper folders, small stapler and staples, also for Art, a 9”x12” sketch book, supply case/bag and backpack. Please note, we do not allow rolling backpacks.
    • Optional locker shelves to help organize his/her books, etc.

    • Combination lock for both the Coates and and Frost P.E. lockers. The combination numbers will be given to the advisory teacher.

    Upper School
    Pencils, paper, 3-ring binder(s) of choice, and (optional) any electronic device that will support their learning.


Middle School: There are no required Middle School athletic practices or activities that take place during the summer. Middle School students will begin athletic practices after school starts. For complete details and more information regarding Middle School athletics, please click here for a letter from the Middle School Athletic Director.

Gently used uniforms will be available for sale at the Family Association's annual Textbook and Uniform Resale on June 16-17 and July 21-22 or you may also purchase uniforms directly from Dennis Uniform. Corps students will be required to pick up their uniforms during the Cadet Uniform Issue (see below).

Corps of Cadets

Cadet Uniform Issue is mandatory for all cadets. All cadets are required to come to the TMI Rifle Range to pick up their Corps uniforms during one of the following dates/times (Note: Returning cadets will be required to have shaved and a proper haircut for their uniform issue in accordance with the Cadet Regulations.):
