Building a Residential Life Community

The Residential Life program at TMI enhances the mission of the school by providing boarding students a nurturing living environment that enables them to excel and mature within a supportive community. Both 5- and 7-day options are available to students. The Residential Life staff at TMI prepare numerous weekend activities, team-building retreats and community gatherings throughout the year for our students in the Residential Life program. Community activities have included trips to Schlitterbahn, Mustang Island, bat caves in Boerne, touring the Hill Country, Flying L Ranch, Sea World, Fiesta Texas and Enchanted Rock State Park. Local activities often include: bowling, attending the rodeo, Spurs Basketball games, ice hockey, Missions Baseball games, Fiesta events, local shopping, movies and museums. Transportation is provided in a fleet of suburbans or school busses.

Wednesday Community Gatherings

On designated Wednesdays, the residential life community will gather in the chapel or the refectory for family-style gatherings. These gatherings are designed to address and discuss such topics as relationship management, goal setting, alcohol and drug awareness, study habits, and roommate issues, etc. All resident students are required to attend, and parents are asked to plan accordingly.

Annual Retreats

The students in the residential life community participate in a fall and winter retreat. Retreats provide an opportunity to gather together for fellowship and reconnect as a community. Retreat destinations have included, the Mayan Dude Ranch – Bandera, Texas; The Flying Ranch – Bandera, Texas; Canyon of the Eagles Nature Center – Burnet, Texas; Mustang Island Retreat Center – Port Aransas, Texas; Mo Ranch – Hunt, Texas; and the King Tut exhibition in Dallas, Texas.
