The purpose of college counseling is to provide guidance during the college search and application process. A new curriculum is in development with the hope of arming students with pertinent information appropriate to each grade level, including the Middle School years. Beginning in Upper School, students and parents will have access to Naviance, a commonly used data-collection system necessary for college application preparation and completion. Grade-specific information in the Upper School may be accessed by parents and students by going directly to Naviance. In addition, the department sends out a semi-monthly newsletter and routine announcements to juniors and seniors via Naviance. Curriculum delivery occurs during the advisory period at different points of the year for each grade level, with increasingly comprehensive instruction each subsequent year.
To include: Human Geography (one year), Modern World Civilizations (one year), US History (one year), Government (one semester) and Economics (one semester); where listed, AP classes may be taken instead of the core class for that particular year.
