TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas seeks a full-time Assistant Commandant of Cadets beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. The Assistant Commandant is responsible for assisting the Commandant with the overall planning, organization and execution of the JROTC Department/Military Program for the Texas Military Institute Corps of Cadets providing education for 6th through 12th grade students.
All TMI JROTC instructors are deeply involved in the TMI and local communities. They teach leadership education curricula. They also serve as liaisons between the Army and civilian agencies and perform career and performance counseling for Cadets. They help plan and support activities like the TMI Military Ball, various Cadet Competitions, Cadet Publication production, military ceremonies, community service, and charitable activities. They provide instruction in drill and ceremonies and in the principles of leadership and management. In short, the instructors devote themselves to the Cadets in the classroom and during extensive extracurricular activities. Their hard work and devotion have resulted in an JROTC program which is highly acclaimed on local and national levels.
A successful candidate will possess knowledge of Army JROTC policies and regulations, have the ability to instruct Army Drill & Ceremony standards, and be able to demonstrate and conduct Army JROTC Cadet Challenge events.
EDUCATION: Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
EXPERIENCE: An Army Officer retiree at the rank of Major is preferred. Prior experience in a school setting is a plus.
PREFERED CERTIFICATIONS: US Army Cadet Command JROTC Initial Qualification Training, US Army JROTC School of Cadet Command Instructor Certification Training and Civilian Marksmanship Program Instructor Training.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 1, 2016
Responsibilities will include teaching upper school Military Training, Leadership, and Marksmanship classes.
Skills should include knowledge of teaching strategies, supply and arms room operations, and personnel administrative actions. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work collaboratively within a team and across all academic departments.
The TMI Corps of Cadets has been recognized as an Army JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction for over twenty three years. The Leadership Training Course is supported with texts through four levels of instruction addressing the following areas: leadership, citizenship, map reading, first aid, drug abuse prevention, physical fitness, public speaking, financial management, military history, career opportunities and job interview skills, basic rifle marksmanship, military drill and ceremonies. All Upper School Cadets are members of the JROTC program. Middle School Cadets do not attend the classroom phase of Cadet training and are not members of the JROTC program.
Graduating Cadets are often selected for admission to the US Military Service Academies and many are offered ROTC scholarships. Colleges include the following: West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Yale, US Merchant Marine Academy, Notre Dame, Rice, Vanderbilt, Tufts, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, University of Texas, Tulane, Clemson, MIT, Citadel and Baylor.

TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas is accepting applications for the following coaching positions for the 2016-2017 school year. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years coaching experience. TMI competes in the TAPPS and all coaches are expected to support an environment of Christian good sportsmanship. Must have Class B CDL passenger and school bus endorsement, no air break required.
This is a full-time, year-round position.
Essential responsibilities include providing student transportation: morning pickup from one location, occasional transport during the school day, after school functions, and evenings as needed. Overnight field trips and occasional weekend trips are included in these duties.
Applicant must have appropriate vehicle maintenance knowledge as the position is responsible for routine maintenance of all school vehicles which includes a fleet of Suburbans and 14 passenger busses. (The fleet is serviced by local mechanic.) Duties include responsibility for interior and exterior cleaning, scheduling off-campus maintenance and repairs, picking up parts, reporting vehicle problems to the Facilities Manager, and coordination of maintenance and repairs with the Transportation Coordinator and the Facilities Manager. At times during the school year, summer, and school holidays, this position assists with school maintenance as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
This position reports to the Facilities Manager.

TMI is seeking Substitute Teachers. Those who are qualified will be added to our roster of substitute teachers to be called upon as needed throughout the school year.
Education: 4-year College degree preferred
Experience: Previous teaching experience with middle and upper school-age children.
